ABOUT ME

About me – who I am.

Hejsan!!! I’m Lisa. Nice to meet you. Welcome to my little corner of the world…

LIVE TO TRAVEL

My biggest passion in life is traveling. I live from travel to travel. While we do not travel as much as I would like to, we still try to go somewhere about two to three times per year. Each part of traveling is so exciting, from deciding the destination to planning the itinerary, searching for great restaurants and experiences that must be just that – experienced in person.

I like to be comfortable while traveling. We are not the back-packer type of travelers, nor are we the jet-setters that will only stay at 5-star hotels, and do the latest & greatest. So we could be classified as “middle-aged” curious humble beings that try to enjoy life, have fun and make room for travel & living.

One of my happiest moments in life is when I am sitting onboard an aircraft, next to my husband on our way to a new adventure. I hope you will enjoy our stories, and maybe we can inspire you to visit the destinations we have been to. Click here for my stories.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF ME AND WHAT INSPIRES ME

I have been addicted to the idea of traveling for as long as I can remember. Born and raised in Sweden, where I grew up in Stockholm during the 70s and 80s. I used to visit travel agencies and collect their travel brochures with all the glossy amazing pictures. After looking through them for hours, I would cut out the ones I loved most, and tape them to the back of the door to my room, and I would daydream about all the amazing travels I would do when I grew up…

I was equally fascinated by languages, and I took every opportunity to learn a new one in school. English was mandatory, and then I picked French and Spanish. My goal was to become a flight attendant and travel the world.

I have lived in different countries. As mentioned above, I grew up in Sweden, where my family still lives. When I was 18, I went to London, England where I stayed for a year to improve my English. My work as an Au pair allowed me to live with an English family and completely immerse myself in the British experience. A few years later, I spent four months in Aix-en Provence, where I studied and improved my French. For the last 30+ years, I have lived in the US, in three different states.

WORKING IN THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY

I did become a flight attendant for SAS, Scandinavian Airlines Systems in 1990. The destinations were mostly within Europe, but I was finally traveling for a living. mostly within Europe. I loved what I was doing.

Fast forward a few decades, and I have now worked for 3 major airlines. I feel very lucky as I have had the opportunity to work in almost every single position there is, and I have inside knowledge of the travel industry/airline experience for more than 30 years. I absolutely love what I do and I would not change it.

ABOUT PASSIONS

I have many other passions in life. I love food – cooking as well as eating, a glass of great wine, chocolate – some may call me a Chocoholic, photography, painting, running, and Weimaraners. Not necessarily in that order.

I started running very late in life. First, it would be 10 seconds at a time until I could go on forever and ever. Since then, I have completed seven half-marathons and one full Marathon. I run a short distance every single day. This is one of my “non-negotiables”.

I believe everything happens for a reason, and life will take you where you should be. Take all the chances that may come your way. You never know where life will take you, so enjoy the journey.
